Dokri was once called Lab-e-Darya or a lip of the Indus, the name is believed to have been derived from Dhaatki, or ‘old woman’. the Dokri TOWN Is famous in the district and believed as an educational city, dokri town's majorty of students are in universites of sindh, in QUEST 5, in MUET 8, IN SINDH UNIVERSITY 43 etc. Dokri has been producing and promoting good human resources in various Government and private sectors. Taluka Dokri is home of important seats of learning as Agriculture College, Cadet College Larkana, Model School and upcoming Benazir Bhutto Medical University. In past Dokri remained politically active but nowadays taluka is looking for really sincere and responsible politicians who can care about development and provision of basic facilities in the taluka
